Oil Paintings

This body of work reflects deep, often chaotic emotions experienced by many of us. There is solace to be found in paint; especially in the dual nature of acrylic and oil. Acrylic permits a moment to be captured quickly, almost urgently, while oil invites slowness and reflection, allowing feelings to linger in thought and daily life.

The paintings in this series center familiar, sentimental, everyday objects. These items serve as surrogates for the past, acting as artifacts of memory. A worn shirt, a broken figurine, a tarnished ring; each is rendered with care, like a caretaker preserving something fragile. Floating in ambiguous space, the objects are isolated but imbued with significance. Their realism is interrupted by visible brushwork and layered surfaces, calling attention to the hand that painted them and the emotional labor behind their making.

Though the specific motivations behind this work remain personal, the imagery speaks to a shared human experience: the impulse to hold onto what time inevitably alters or erases. These objects, though humble, carry the weight of memory. They are not just painted things—they are records. Anchors. Echoes of presence. I hope to reach those who, like me, find themselves caught between past and present, searching for something just beyond reach.
